Of fashion of course ;). My Saturday was packed with full figured divas, amazing clothes, laughter, and makeup. 14 ladies, one makeup artist. A few of never wore anything more than mascara and they entrusted me with the task of making them even more radiant than they were. Kathleen Starita of Kstar Photography was there as my assistant and she did an awesome job. If she were not there, I know it would have taken me forever. So, thank you Kathleen for all you hard work. And also, thank you beautiful 14 women who trusted me to beat your face to the heavens. Here's hoping you were pleased. ![]() Thanks to Audria "Nubia" Arnold and Ashley Dean for entrusting me with the task of making beautiful women, even more stunning.

Today we (Kathleen, Kim, and I) had a lovely meeting with Riley from v107.5. I have to say, it was a pretty good meeting. Ideas were reviewed and she's such an open person, she loved what we brought to the table. I look forward to working as a team again with these bad ass women. We're moving to a new frontier!!
In other news: Something very, very, very delicious might be in the works (as far as publications go) and I look forward to sharing the exciting news with you all. I was tired of doing makeup for nothing. Tired of spending time and effort to make a look as flawless as possible, only to have it "fall on deaf ears," so to say. So, with a few tears and a broken heart, I bid my old ways goodbye and submitted to FACEON Magazine!! I didn't do it alone, and that one shoot, that one shoot that took us 8 hours to complete, has gotten me so many accolades from fellow craftsmen/women in the business. So much, and it only took someone who actually wanted more like I do. Someone who, like me, is more critical of herself and is three times as hard on everybody else. Someone who took me aside and said "I want this more than anything, I need to do more than 'BE' in Memphis, I need to thrive! I know you can help me get there, let me help you too."
Sometimes, you have to do something that tests your devotion to your craft. Sometimes, you have to bite a little harder on the bait to get picked. Sometimes, you have to do whats right for YOU. Not everyone will agree with your choices, that's fine because not everyone can live your life. So, what they think shouldn't deter you from going for the gold. You make friends along the way, and those friends wish for your success as much as you wish for theirs. No friend would try to guilt you into staying in a place where you're not flourishing. No friend would put what they "like" over your dreams. No friend would dust you so that you wouldn't be able to shine. It's time for a new lease on life. A new view of success. It's time for a change and it MUST start with me. I can feel it in the air! LoL! Over the next three months or so, changes are happening to the site, my portfolio, and the way I do business ;). I think it's about time I do this full time makeup artist thing right. I have some things a brewing and here's hoping that they all turn out wonderfully.
Taking chances is quite scary isn't it. But, the cave you're afraid of could hold the treasure you've been searching for ;D. Take chances, live the life you deserve! The best thing I could have done as a blogger is to subscribe to other blogger's who I admire and who love what they do. I was on BEE's blog when I lucked upon a PRO Artist application section. In it where cosmetic companies who offer PRO discounts to working make up artists! I jumped on it! Already, I've been approved for:
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) 20% Pro Artist Discount Stila (40%) Camera Ready Cosmetics (Between 15-40% off select products) YABY (40%) Le Cosmetique (15-30% off select products) Ferro (40%) Illamasqua (40%) Coverfx(40%) I've yet to apply to: Make Up For Ever NARS MAC BOBBI BROWN Naimies Beauty Center It's only been a week since I started filling all of these out and I'm so excited and honored to have been accepted into all of the companies who I applied for! And they look friggin amazing! Thank to Arick Elion, Faizah Husniyah, and all the working models for making that shoot one of the best shoots I've ever done. It was so very high class and so very professional and the environment was just, wonderful. I love the images and I'm glad to have been apart of such beauty.
FINALLY! My boyfriend and I have moved into our own place! It's a little empty seeing as though we only had half a bedroom full of stuff and a rabbit. Now, we have a new apartment, a new baby bunny, and we couldn't be happier!!
The energy was amazing and the model was fantastic the overall feel was awesome!! Here's one of my favorite shots from last night!! She was giving my Tyra Banks realness!!!
The response to my personal tragedy was so touching! You care, you really do. And, to show my appreciation, I'll be posting pictures of all the makeup that I've received/gotten so far!! It will have to be a post for tomorrow, because I had to use some of the products today but, look forward to it ok! There's MAC, Bobbi Brown, Coastal Scents, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Stila, NYX, M.U.F.E., etc. :D
Again, thank you all so much! It really means a lot to me :D |
